FixMyStreet.com is a independent website, built by the charity mySociety. It's an online tool that empowers residents to bring street-level maintenance and repair issues to the attention of their local councils, quickly and easily, via their smartphone.
The FixMyStreet system is available nationwide, empowering the general public to improve the quality of their streets.
How does it work?
As a cloud-based system, it is free to use, and problems can be reported in under 2 minutes.
Users simply capture a photograph of the issue and submit it via Street Repairs with information about the location and nature of the fault.
The details are then passed on to the relevant authority or the highways agency in real-time. People can either remain anonymous or submit their telephone number and receive updates via text.
Motor Fleet Insurance impact
